A Tribute to President Musharraf

Gawadar Port–Musharraf’s invaluable Gift to future generation

” Analysts term Gawadar Port as Indian Nightmare. They are right because it has strategic importance for Pakistan’s defense and economy. It will generate economic activity at such a massive scale that may transform the life-style of a common man. It is also symbol of Pakistan-China long lasting friendship. Many Chinese Engineers lost their lives as a result of terrorist activities on the behest of Indian Intelligence Agency RAW. This project, however, continued unhampered. The following report by Rauf Klasra in The News ( April 30, 2008 ) against President Perevez Musharraf has underpinning against Gawadar Port. No doubt this report has many factual inaccuracies. Rebutting them is not important for me. The most important question is:

Has he done it unintentionally or there is some hidden hand behind it? Recurrence of reports on same theme would be sufficient to transpire. Patriotic Pakistanis have to be watchful” Pakfirst

‘Gwadar factor’ behind wheat crisis!

RaufKlasra

ISLAMABAD: President Pervez Musharraf’s desire to see the imported foreign wheat land thousands of miles away at the Gwadar Port is said to have greatly contributed to the flour crisis in the country as it delayed transportation of the multi-million dollar consignment from the remote area of Balochistan to the wheat shortage areas of the Punjab and other parts of the country.
The new port still lacks the required facilities to swiftly unload the consignment, as the ship was docked at a considerable distance from the port, which not only caused delay but also increased the cost of transportation. (more…)

EDITORIAL
Daily Times April 27,2008

Such is the level of politicisation in the judges’ restoration case that now even parliament is under pressure to give a “good decision” in line with the demands of a section of the community. In the latest development, the bipartisan committee formed to arrive at a text of the resolution restoring the judges deposed on November 3, 2007, has done its job and has submitted it to the two leaders, Mr Asif Ali Zardari and Mr Nawaz Sharif. This is just as it should be because the two leaders are committed to restoring the judges as per the Murree Declaration and must now agree on how to fulfil this commitment.

But the environment is partisan, intent on dictating the decision it wants. A number of newspapers and TV channels are clearly committed to the “prescribed” outcome of the issue which overtly restores the judges and empowers them to get rid of President Pervez Musharraf. Most TV channels have been asking whether or not the national parliament is sovereign compared to the judiciary. Most pro-Iftikhar Chaudhry sections claim to have the sole right to interpret the meaning of the February 18 election results. According to them, the mandate is to restore the judges and get rid of President Musharraf! Indeed, some high profile journalists think that the definition of the “mandate” they have announced is final and should not be questioned. In fact, it has become a common error to look at the 2008 electoral result as a kind of referendum.

Believe me Pakistan has other issues also

RESTORATION of the deposed Judges of the higher judiciary has been in the limelight since 9th March, 2007 but since general elections and particularly after the Bhurban Declaration signed by PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and PML (N) Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif, the issue has virtually hijacked the attention of the entire nation. In addition to statements by the politicians, lawyers community and civil society activists, media has been in the forefront debating day in and day out the pros and cons and the likely fall-outs. The issue deserves utmost attention and early solution because it is the question of independence of the judiciary on which the entire fabric of a democratic society depends.
